Ever since I began painting in 1999, I have used bold color and expressionist strokes to convey emotion and energy on the canvas. Abstract art has allowed me to explore these natural tendencies even further, and paint in a more intuitive and responsive way. I see my abstract paintings as living records of my time in the studio, conversations I've had with the painted surface about where to go and what to do next - and mostly, when to stop. Rather than try to force a particular outcome, my goal is to reveal the unique world within each painting, the story the paint will tell - if I take the time to listen.
I work in acrylic and gouache paint, as well as mixed media with acryla gouache, pencil, pen, and oil pastel.
